Nihonium

Located at Group 13 and Period 7 of the Periodic Table is the only element discovered and created in Japan. This is Nihonium.

Speaking of Japan, you might think Japan as a world - famous Anime series, or its famous car brands ( Toyota, Honda ), but ever think that Japan would've created an element? So, you can know that ...
EVERYTHING'S POSSIBLE
Famous anime
Kosuke Morita and his element exhibition
First discovered by a group lead by Kosuke Morita called RIKEN ( The institute of Physical and Chemical Research ) in Japan in 2015. Created ( not isolated, since it is man - made ) by RIKEN, too.

Not much information about Nihonium but it can be absolutely certain that Nihonium was made by accelerating Zinc ions 10% the speed of light and then impact them into a thin bismuth target. By doing this, it produced a very heavy ion followed by a chain of six consecutive alpha decays. This product is identified as a new element, which after that is called Nihonium.

Its most stable isotope can only hold together for 10 seconds, which is quite unstable, which is why its used as only for researching purposes.

How Nihonium got its name
Nihonium got its name from the Japanese name of the country Japan, Niho. It meant that the land of the rising sun. It is named so because of the place where Nihonium was discovered, in Tokyo, Japan.

Uses
There was no known uses for Nihonium yet as it breaks within 9.5 seconds. It is only used for experimental purposes.
